Winter Narnia Style Wedding

Bringing the enchanting world of C.S Lewis’ beloved books the Chronicles of Narnia to life is the perfect match for your winter wedding. It can be easy to fall into overly festive style themes and décor at this time of the year, but by using a theme such as this one, you’ll have huge scope for lots of chic, vintage style additions while still keeping it feeling like a true winter wonderland.

Think faux furs, snow, pine trees, fairylights, literature, hot chocolate and Turkish delights, plus lots of atmospheric candles.

If you’d like to chat about this or any other aspect of your wedding day plans, then don’t hesitate to get in touch with me directly.

Ceremony Décor

Start with your ceremony and turn the aisles into an enchanted Narnia style forest with white branches and blossoms. Why not have a white aisle runner too? Or use white petals to line the aisle? And don’t forget to have hurricane lamps or lanterns filled with candles for the complete look.

The Table

Top off each table with frozen effect winter branches. Use ghost chairs with faux fur sashes and name the tables after your favourite characters from the book. Why not create centrepieces with fake snow or glittering oversized snowflakes and the Narnia books stacked in the centrepiece surrounded by lots of candles?

Around the Room

If you can get your hands on a vintage style wardrobe, then it’s going to be the icing on your Narnia cake, truly bringing the lion, the witch and the wardrobe to life! Why not even set up a DIY photo booth in there too? Think about hurricane lanterns, hanging lanterns and tea lights interspersed with fake snow or even white petals lining rooms and around doorways. White light up dancefloors will work wonderfully and have your guests up all night long, as well as uplighters to give the venue real atmosphere.

Foods

Turkish delight was a big feature in the books, so why not have this for your guests to nibble on when they arrive? As well as warming cups of hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows? You could even put in a shot of whisky for the grownups! And of course a chic winter wedding cake fit for the snow queen would be perfect too.

Superhero Wedding Theme

The marvel universe may dominate the box office these days, but superheroes have long been popular with kids and big kids alike! So if you’re a total comic book or superhero fanatic or indeed your kids are and you want to have a wedding theme that is truly entertaining, then this is the theme for you!

Visually stunning, think lots of vivid primary colours and huge scope for creativity, whether you want to channel your inner Marvel or DC hero for your big day. You can go all out and dress up as your favourite characters from the pages of your comic book heroes or add some simple nods in your cake, your table décor or indeed a few touches around the room.

Above all, this is a theme that doesn’t take itself too seriously and is all about lots and lots of fun.

If you’d like to chat about this or any other aspect of your wedding day plans, then don’t hesitate to get in touch with me directly.

Attire

If you’re the sort of couple who want to go all out, then don’t be afraid to dress up as characters from your favourite superhero comics or films. It’s your day, so don’t eel you have to play to convention. If you want to have more subtle nods, then think about superhero cufflinks, garters, socks and buttonholes. Or why not have a little superhero colour or characters incorporated into the bouquets? Or you could dress you flower girl and/or Paige boy in superhero costumes?

Table Décor

Why not have your tables named after your favourite superheroes and use actual comic books for those table names? Or get creative with your place cards or escorts cards and give them a superhero makeover with some comic book pez dispensers or have some POW and BANG style cards with a space for the guests name. And of course your table plan is crying out for a superhero makeover too. For the table itself why not go for vivid primary colours for your floral centrepieces or stack comics in amongst your arrangement.

Around the Room

You’ve got to have some superhero style props and masks for a photobooth! Think of having capes, shields, fake weapons and masks and let your guests have fun! If you’re DIY lover, then why not make some streamers or pompoms out of actual comic books?

Cake

If you don’t want to go all out with your superhero theme, then confirming it to the cake is the perfect way to express your comic book passions. Chat to your cake maker about your ideas, your favourite superheroes and fun ways to incorporate them into the design of the cake.

Wedding Reception Entrance Ideas

There are lots about a wedding day that is traditional. There’s certain milestones throughout the day, that are truly magical and ones you’ll look back on. There’s the walk down the aisle. The couple seeing each other for the first time. The kiss after becoming married, the speeches, the first dance and the cutting of the cake.

But one of the most underrated parts of the day is the entrance into the meal as a married couple. It is one of those parts of the day that most couples doesn’t give a thought to, but it is one of the most enjoyable. It’s the first time you’ll be referred to as Mr & Mrs, Mrs & Mrs Mr & Mr, or the bride and groom etc. Generally your guests all rise to their feet and cheer and clap and it’s just a truly relaxed beautiful moment.

So why not give some thought to how you’re actually going to do your entrance? From flash mobs, to balloon drops to everything in between, there are plenty of ways to really make your entrance.

If you’d like to chat about this or any other aspect of your wedding day plans, then don’t hesitate to get in touch with me directly.

Music or Dance

Whether you have a favourite song you both love to absolutely boogie too, or you want to surprise your guests with a specially choreographed routine to knock their socks off, this sort of entrance, really defines the expression ‘making an entrance!’ If you do go for this option, then go all the way with it. Do make sure you discuss it with your other half first, as going off half-cocked freestyle can lead to disaster. Remember though, everyone who is there is a friend or family so they’ll all be cheering you on.

Balloon Drop

Why not go for something really unexpected like a balloon, rose petal or confetti drop? This still give the entrance a fun element, but takes the pressure off the couple to perform.

Quirky Ideas

Why not arrive into the venue with the bride on the groom’s back piggyback or fireman’s lift style? Or have a finish line set up and run through it? Or what about being lead in by a live singer or why not dim the light sin the room and come in with sparklers or have a light show organised?

Flash Mob

This one involves the entire bridal party so get your bridesmaids and best man in on the action. Arrive into the venue in whatever style you wish, generally to music and then usher the rest of the crowd onto the dancefloor too. Its huge fun and a great way to break the ice before the meal and speeches too.

Get Granny in the Bridal Party

When it comes to weddings these days, the idea of keeping to tradition or in with convention is thankfully on the wane. Today couples are going for weddings that reflect them as individuals and their families. They are no longer bound by having to get married in churches, or even indoors!

Different venues, faiths and arrangements are opening up whole new worlds for weddings and truly nothing is out of reach when it comes to your wedding dreams.

And one trend that’s really caught my eye in recent years is to have you grandmother serve as your bridesmaid or flower girl! It’s a truly heart-warming move that’s becoming more and more popular.

If you’d like to chat about this or any other aspect of your wedding day plans, then don’t hesitate to get in touch with me directly.

Bridesmaid

The online world went into a frenzy recently when stories surfaced of brides asking their grandmothers who were in their 80s or even 90s to be their grandmothers. It’s not only captured people’s imagination, but it also was as if a lightbulb collectively went off in many a brides head! Often we are very close to our grandmothers and if we’re lucky enough to have them around when we do walk down the aisle, then it makes perfect sense to get them involved. Before you go off gung-ho to ask though, do make sure it’s something your grandmother would be comfortable with. Otherwise think about creating a special role for her (see below)

Flower Girl

The role of bridesmaid can be a little full-on for some grandmothers, so if she is not keen to be a bona-fide bridesmaid or you already have a full complement of bridesmaids but still want your granny to be in the mix, then why not ask her to be a flower girl? If you’re lucky enough to have two grandmothers who are willing, then they not have them both walk down the aisle with some bespoke baskets and petals.

Create a Role

Weddings can sometimes involve politics especially when it comes to choosing bridesmaids, groomsmen, and flowers girls. So if you’ve already got these positions filled, but you still want to have your grandmother involved, then why not create a special role just for her? Why not have her lead the procession down the aisle? She would walk first, then the flower girls, then the bridesmaids, followed by the bride! In fact, it would be a wonderful way to have the matriarch of the family kick things off.

Why Not Get Grandad Involved?

There’s no rule that says getting involved in the bridal party is just for the grannies! Why not have grandad serve as an usher or groomsman on the big day. Or why not have him and granny serve as de-facto flower girls either?
